Strange way of the world

Her voice was everything right now. Since the last time they saw each other, all he could think about was how upset she was to be away from home. Her cries played over and over in his head so he tried to quiet them by winning her back. Twice he failed, maybe even a third time. He finally broke down enough to whete he confessed his feeling for Tavas to Nampeyo and explained some of their situation. She went to visit the Ridge, but Bjorn said he wouldn't let her go. He said Tavas never asked to leave the Ridge...

He could feel her warmth as she wrapped her neck around him as he utters his words of defeat and guilt. She bumps his shoulder as she says this wasn't his fault. He didn't know how it wasn't, but he was curious about one important thing. Was she beginning to like her new home in the Ridge? Was she starting to like Bjorn? Suddenly, she blurts out something. He was taken aback from her words, so much so that he takes a few steps back. His ears shift backwards as he listens to her short explanation. A large frown pastes on his lips.

It was true Warsaw played his role in this, but it was Requiem that truly lost her. He made it a point after her departure to ask every mare he had if they truly wanted to stay with him. That hasn't gone so well either since one of those mares ran off and fell in love with someone else. Honey brown eyes drop to the floor. "I just want you happy, Tavas. The last time we saw each other you begged to come home. I was trying to make that happen, but I failed you." He couldn't look her in the eyes as he said the words out loud. As he talked about her cries that haunt his dreams.

In true avoidance, she changes the subject. His head bobs in agreence. This was probably best, to talk of other things. To talk of their life without each other. His eyes raise to her as she asks about the Cove. "Nice and cozy." He replies quickly, but then she asks about her mother and his gaze adverts for a moment. The Cove was such an easier subject so he would start there. She needed to know what he has been up to since she left the Bay and how he has grown as a stallion. "The Bay will always be a special place to me, but the Cove has brought me more opputunites." A small smile tugs at his lips as his eyes cast over the surrounding meadow. He had to tell her, but it was awkward to say.

"I have a small herd of two and...I am a father." He imagined a world where Tavas was the mother to his first, but reality was he was a father before his feelings for Tavas were known. Telling her he had an intimate moment with someone else wasn't as bad as this was going to be, but she deserves to know. His eyes meet her gaze and he is solemn. He is worried for her. "I have not been to the Inlet since I left, but I did hear something unsettling. Your mother birthed another child of Warsaw's, but last I heard she wasn't doing well. You should visit her if Bjorn will let you."
