Everything about the red stallion was tense and unhappy. Cain tensed up in response but made sure to keep his head level and his expresson neutral, not wanting to give off any challenge to Shamwari, not while his daughters were surely watching. There was a time when Cain would have loved to meet him head on and even egg on a fight, but Vihaan and Primrose were too important to him now and he knew how they would feel about him fighting their father. Family was important to both of them and so he would have to make it important to him as well, even if that meant taking whatever Shamwari was about to throw at him. He was straight to the point too, straight out asking if Cain knew his daughters when they first met. Cain wasn't the kind to beat around the bush so he snorted and nodded. "I met Vihaan and Everglow before I met you. I did not know they were your daughters until you told me your name and that you were from the Prairie, then I started to piece it together." He admitted.

When Shamwari described the stallion Vihaan and Everglow had surely told him about, Cain tilted his head and pricked his ears to listen. He knew Shamwari was describing himself and he knew it was probably an accurate depiction of how he was then. He raised a brow. "I do not play games, Shamwari." He had never been anything but honest and upfront, even in his most violent form. He always told others what he thought and what he wanted, not caring how they would respond. Sure, he was a lot easier on things now since his mares had taught him socialization but he would never lose his honesty, even if it came off as abrupt. Then Shamwari said he wanted to see her and Cain snorted before looking around. "I'm sure she is around. She probably already knows you're here." He added on, sure that pretty much anyone in the herd would know another stallion had entered the Desert.

Right about then, he heard Vihaan's voice calling out and he turned his head, ears pricked as he watched the dunalino run to them. He could see the joy in her eyes to see Shamwari and he fought to control his expression, wondering if it would be dampened soon enough when she saw how angry her father was with him. He held his ground and waited as Vihaan embraced her father, his eyes softening as Akello clambered in his mother's wake, pressing against her legs and watching the stranger with open curiosity. His body tensed protectively as Vihaan urged Akello to meet Shamwari, fighting the urge to get between them because he knew Vihaan would never let anything happen to their son. Akello nodded at his mother in assurance before eagerly stepping forward to hold out his nose to the red stallion. "Hi, I'm Akello." He introduced himself, his tail swishing eagerly at his flanks. Once they visited a little, Vihaan nudged him away and he scowled a little in disappointment, giving one more curious glance at the other stallion before he sighed in defeat and pressed his head to Vihaan's shoulder.

"Love you too, mom." He said begrudgingly before he moved to press his head to Cain's shoulder as well. "Later, dad." He muttered before taking off across the dunes to find the other foals. Cain watched him go with a smile. He loved the way his kids were growing and developing, and how he got to see every minute of it. But his absence meant it was time to get back to business and Cain let out a soft sigh of resentment before turning his gaze back to Vihaan. He hoped she would help soothe Shamwari's anger. Her words both surprised him and pleased him, his ears pricking toward her as he gave a smile. His gaze softened as he watched her determined form, affection glowing in their depths. Then he heard someone approaching and his head snapped up, eyes widening in surprise to see none other than Primrose coming. He felt himself tense a little, knowing that their relationship was still on the more fragile side even though he'd helped her through the pregnancy and the birthing.

Would she turn on him now that Shamwari was here? How angry would he be to know she was here too? Cain snorted softly and stomped the sand. For the moment, Primrose just looked deliriously happy to see her father, running to him with tears in her eyes. He took note of his daughter Paisley with her but instead of introducing him to her father as well, Primrose urged her to go play with Akello and the others before moving to Shamwari. Cain watched her carefully, disappointment flashing in his gaze when she didn't even look in his direction, only seeking out her father as she told him she knew he would come for her. The words were like a slice to his heart and he felt his breath catch as his head lowered. So she would just leave him now? He thought they'd gotten through so much. What would this mean for them now? He felt his chest tighten as he looked to the red stallion, cautious and waiting for his response.
