Havelle. Of course he knew Havelle. SIster. Mother spoke of her often, and Nattergal. Brother. He had many siblings here on the island but none like Havelle and Nattergal. In his mind they were his special family. Sharers of mother's blood. Perhaps father too? Neither mother nor abba was clear on that but he assumed so. He begged mother for stories of them. Nearly every night he lay curled in the deep bed of grasses, the glistening stars framing her cream form in an ethereal halo. Her smile was always soft as she regailled him with stories of the mischief that Havelle and Nattergal used to get into here on Paradise. Once or twice she would take him to the shores, her gaze far off and distant as her muzzle pointed to the northern horizon. It was where they now lived.
He often wondered why they did not live in Paradise with him and mother and father. Always she would merely smile at him with that soft sad smile that was always drawn at the question. She would tousle his mane and tell him the world was not always so kind. One day. Always she promised one day he would meet his siblings. He never imagined that day would be today.
"HAVELLE!!" he squeaks, leaping forward excitely as he lunged for her muzzle, covering her ashen features with excited nuzzles of his own. "Momma always talks about you and Nattergal. She says I will meet you one day. Is brother here? You know your my sister right? I'm so glad you're here! Mom and dad are gone but they will be back soon they promised. Do you want to see my special place? It's where I wait for them. Dad showed it to me. He told me to keep watch. I've been doing that. Will you stay now? he continues, his words bubbling past his lips in excited bursts. Dark eyes glitter with excitement, skin shivering with pleasure.
