Re(2): Government Payouts to Unemployed individuals During Coronavirus Crisis

I heard on the news that the just-passed Coronavirus Relief Bill included enhancements to unemployment benefits; with the principal enhancement being to increase the maximum length of the payout period from 26 weeks to 99 weeks.

I personally think that increasing the size of the benefit checks, while retaining the current payout period, would be more meaningful to the recipients.
Also, it could be potentially less expensive for the government.
For example:
If an individual earned $500 per week.
Under the extended payout plan, while paying out 60% of the individual's paycheck, the government could potentially pay out a maximum of $29,700 to the individual.
On the other hand, if the individual received 100% of his paycheck for a period of 26 weeks, the government would pay out a maximum of $13,000.
(If the government paid out 75% of the individual's paycheck for a period o 26 weeks, the maximum government payout would be $9,750).

It looks like the Congress has yet to act on Trump's request for a one-time, two-part payout directly to all eligible recipients.
