as the light in me went dark

Khar had never found battle enthralling. The blood curdling screams of pain and rage were enough to cause the bile to rise in her throat. She had seen enough bloodshed in her younger years. She knew what stallions were capable of when the rules were left to them. That was in part why she chose to like among the Peak mares. Odd as it was to say there was less drama in that lifestyle. Now that was not to say that at times she didn't find the company of stallions... pleasant. Gent came to mind. However those needs were few and far between. The Lagoon General was a prime example of why she avoided that lifestyle. She was no prized mare to be trotted off and mounted at the whim.

Then again, lurking along the shadows, it was becoming increasingly clear to her that she had no business in a war especially one that she did not exactly have a dog in the fight. Of course Warsaw and his lackeys were determined that mares could never be leaders but well, the Peak mares had existed long before he came into being and this was not a fight on the steep peaks where she was best suited.

Silently she curses to herself as once again she trips over an upturned root. Nostrils flare as she waits silently a moment or two, hoping that for the time being she was still undiscovered... that is until HIS voice rings out. Like a blanket of runoff from the high peaks she feels the blood inside her veins run cold. Ears swivel backwards amid the silken tangle of alabaster mane that caressed the elegant curve of her cheek.

Raider.

Ash dusted lips peel back to flash blunt ivories at him as he steps into her path. There was something about him that made her feel as though her heart would stop. Unlike the mountain cats and clouded leopards that she was familiar with raising along the spines of the mountain peaks, he was like a viper, a snake lying wait in the grass to strike at any unsuspecting victim. Unfortunately for her, this time it was she who was the victim in his path.

"Rocky was it?" she taunts a malicious sneer of her own placed upon delicate features. Pale silver eyes narrow as she takes a threatening step towards him. "Now whatever made you think that he was protecting me? Perhaps it was you in need of protection." she hisses lunging forward, teeth snapping at the soft flesh of his muzzle.

She had forgotten all about it. Autumn. The damned changing of seasons again. Unlike her first encounter with Gent, this time the season had snuck up on her and so she had not thought of the urge to procreate. Not that she wanted to. She had a daughter and that was enough. "Your barking up the wrong tree beach boy if you think I'm about to become one of your little whores." she murmurs ears flitting forward again as she takes a step backwards. This was not where she wanted to be.... out in the unfamiliar woods on her own away from her sisters... she needed to get back. Needed to find Macabre or Wasp hell even a member of the forest herd would be convenient in this moment.
