hold me in this wild, wild world;

She wanted to tell him, the words lingering upon the tip of her tongue. She wanted to tell him she had waited, that she had hoped he might be found on the islands and that the fantasy of galloping carefree through the shallow shores had once etched its way into every dream that brought her rest. She wanted to tell him the fear she felt, when Liland transformed before her, changing from the kindly stallion offering her solace to the testosterone driven male searching for the next womb for his offspring. She wanted to tell him she would have waited forever if it meant finding him again but those memories... the colt. She dare not wish the harm upon another, the harm it might cause for Dex to know the truth. For now it was safest to keep this secret buried. One day. She promised herself. One day she would tell him. But that was not this day. She was not willing to risk the joys of their reunion for ill will.

He remarks that she is too good for him and once more the guilt claws at her throat. "I am far from it. she muses blinking away the lingering tears with a soft smile. "But it is good you think so. You never did find me at fault even when it was my ideas that got us into trouble." she murmurs, tugging affectionately at a straying strand of his obsidian mane. He clears his throat, that wolfish grin upon his lips as he remarks how glad he was sure her father would feel hearing the words fall from her lips.

Amusement tugs her own smile now, pale silver blue eyes dancing with amusement of her own. No. Father would not be happy but she did not care. Dex was the one who called to her heart... to her soul. There would never be another. "Probably not." she muses with a gentle chuckle casting her gaze over the distant shores. "Good thing for you he is too far away to stop me." she purrs rubbing her forehead against his chin. It had been so long, to long since last she felt his touch, since last her heart beat with the fluttering hum. She would not lose him again. Not to anyone.

Imagines of Liland flashes through her mind now and a renewed unease slides over her. What if he did not agree? What if he refused to let him stay? What if Dex did not want to live in the Bay with her?

Awkwardly she clears her throat, the gentle smile upon her lips as she nudges his shoulder with her own. "Come to the Bay with me? I want you always. I only want you... to father my foals and spend our days exploring the islands and helping with the herd there. Rumors of war linger. I would never feel safe... never feel at ease if you were not there with me." she murmurs again, the heat of autumn sending shivers of excitement coursing through her veins. He could deny her she knew. He could say that he wanted to explore a bit before he settled down. She would give him a warm smile then but her heart would not be behind it. She needed to feel his touch, the warmth of his body enveloping her own. She needed more than air for him to know she was his alone.
