'cause it's obvious that we're on different roads

sometimes you win & sometimes you learn

Bahadir is paying for someone else's mistake. It is unfair of Nereid to hold him in the same regard as the two that came before. The three stallions were fundamentally different but it mattered not to her tormented mind. He was painted with the same brush and it brought about her desire to treat him like a leper. To allow a chasm to form between the two of them to the point it seemed the first meeting was a wisftful dream.

Nereid feels her heart thunder beneath her breast as he approaches. She hides her gaze from him, intent on staring at the pools that lay at her feet. A fond smile dances on her lips as she watched the minnows dart to and fro. The small anenome brings back memories of a charcoal filly who enjoyed splashing in the waters and attempted to speak like a fish.

"When I was a young filly my dam would bring me to the ocean. We would spend hours playing in the surf or basking beneath the shade of the psalm trees. My sire often swore that my mother and I resided longer in the embrace of the ocean then we did of the herd. It made him quite jealous and petulant. I recall one time he actually went up to the surf and demanded that Poseidon lift the spell he had placed on his mare and daughter." Nereid could not help the smile that spread across her features or the humor that laced her tone.

"When I was shy of a year old, my mother brought me to my first tide pool. I was so confused by the fish darting around the water and there was even a small crab who was basking in the sun. I managed to get pinched quite harshly on the lip for getting too friendly with him. If I have a child of my own again then I want to bring them here. I want my dam's legacy to live on."

Nereid paused as she realized what she said. Her cheeks warmed and she made sure to look anywhere else besides the stallion besides her. It was a wistful and frightening thought of having a child again. After losing her son so tragically she didn't think she could bare the thought of another child. Maybe one day.

"They even have a crab. They are fierce little creatures!" Nereid couldn't help taking a few steps closed to the aforementioned sea creature. It snapped its pinchers when she got too close, causing Nereid to take a few hurried steps back. It seemed he didn't want company.
