He found himself swimming up onto the shores of the Meadow once again. He was beginning to feel more comfortable in the open lands, more welcome to explore and see just who he could run into. It didn't always prove fruitful, these trips, but he found them to be successful in clearing his head, at least for the moment. He needed it more and more as his thoughts crept back to Primrose and Paisley again and again. He couldn't rest until they were safely back in the Desert, or at least back in the Prairie with her father's herd. As long as he knew she was safe and happy, that's all he wanted for her and his daughter. He just hated the idea that he would go months without seeing his daughter grow. She was his only daughter, at least for now, and that made her precious in his eyes, just as his sons were.

He would have more sons and daughters but each were priceless and he hated the idea of failing any of them as he had failed Paisley. He fought not once but twice and came back with nothing but new scars yet he still fought for new ideas to get them back. Being in the open lands helped him think a little clearer, at least until he would get distracted by someone new to speak to. He found an older stallion talking to a young mare from Warsaw's herd last time he ventured out so why not try again? The moonlight streamed down, making his black and white glisten like silk under the starry sky as he arched his thick neck and praced further inland. His legs still reached out strong and true despite the slight limp in his back leg from a good kick from Ruger. It would heal in time as all bruised and sore muscles do and he wasn't ashamed of his wounds. His pride was a lot more wounded than his body.

His dark brown eyes twinkled in the darkness as he glanced around and that's when he came upon the dark slender mare grazing. She already seemed tense and hyper aware so he made sure not to mask his approach at all, not wanting to spook her. He slowed his pace to a walk and lowered his head, trying to make his large form seem less threatening as his ears pricked and he let out a low nicker to let her know he was there. Stopping a few feet away to give her space, he flicked his tail and tugged his lips into a small smile. "Hello, there. Are you out alone in the dark? Would you like some company?" Wanting to further assure her of his good intentions, he tilted his head a little. "My name is Cain."
