The filly was super excited and intimidated Ryder to no end, but for his mother's sake, he swallowed and stood his ground, his eyes growing ever wider as the filly bounced from one hoof to the other. She said hi and then agreed that they can see a lot before making a weird giggling sound that he'd never heard before. As she nudged him, he gasped a little and gave a little stumble back, more out of surprise than anything but his ears flicked back and forth uncertainly until she said to come on and took off. He glanced over his shoulder once more, looking uneasily at his mother, but when she nudged her head in a "go ahead and don't worry about me" gesture, he gave a small smile and nodded before turning back to the filly. "Wait up!" He called out as he took off after her, watching her toss her head and kick up behind her. It looked like fun so he gave a few kicks of his own and even nickered with glee. When she stopped at the stream though, he wasn't quite paying attention and ended up gasing in surprise as he tried to stop himself on his gangly legs, almost plowing right into her backside before he managed to stumble to a stop. His ears pricked as she started to speak, saying the stream didn't freeze a lot in the winter before lowering her head to drink. He stepped off beside her and slowly lowered his own head, sniffing the water warily before he took a drink himself. "Does it get very cold here?" He couldn't help but ask. She'd talked about ice, after all. He hadn't lifted his head much when suddenly she said you could play in the stream too and jumped in. He tried to jump back but he was too late, getting splashed in the face as he coughed and stumbled back. Before he could recover much, blinking his eyes rapidly and shaking his head as he pinned his ears and tried to clear them of the water, he saw a flicker of movement and noticed the filly had taken off again. "Uh...wait up!" He called out again, tripping as he tried to get his bearings and took off after her. How could he hope to keep up with this girl?!
