The younger male was still watching him warily but Cain just thought of that as good sense. He would do well to treat all strange stallions like that until he was fully grown and mature so he could better defend himself. The colt couldn't give him anything to go on unfortunately, telling him he'd never seen the stallion before and didn't see where they went. Cain sighed and nodded. "That's okay." He didn't want Joker to loss heart. He could see the stallion was at a loss for what to do. Joker told him they left their home herd and hoped to stay together. Cain tilted his head. "Don't give up. Just becuse you're not together now doesn't mean that you can't be in the future." Lifting his head, he searched Joker's gaze before speaking. "The way I see it, you can go many different directions with this. One, you can hang your head and sulk and maybe never see her again. Or you can stand up and make a game plan for how you're going to get back to her." He waited to gauge the colt's reaction before he went on. "You can bargain your way into the herd with her, maybe offer yourself up as a warrior to help with with the borders and protection. Or you can try to gain a power position and eventually win her through a raid or battle. That's playing for the long game, of course. Or the final option...you can decide that maybe this is a chance for you both to grow and develop as individuals. Then you can greet her again some day as your own horse and feel stronger without her presence. I don't think there's really a wrong option here, Joker...though I don't recommend the very first one. That's too much like quitting."
