The Rules
  • There will be no fraternizing with enemies. If you put yourself knowingly in danger, don't expect a rescue.
  • We are only as strong as our weakest link. See to it that you are getting stronger in some skill that is useful, whether it is battling, recruiting, charming, etc.
  • The King and Queen have final say in all matters.

Once upon a time, Cain only saw mares as property, ways to spread his lineage and gain power on the islands. They were meant to be tamed and owned, overpowered. They were meant to seek him for protection. He'd learned quickly enough that was not the case here. The mares were fierce and just as apt to drive him away as any stallion. They didn't back down and they could take a kick or a bite as well as any male. They were strong and vibrant and had quickly become such a life line in his life. Crow seemed open enough to the idea of living in the Desert and though Cain thought he saw a flicker of something in his eyes when he said that he would defend him and any mares he collected, Cain took it as something they could work on as they learned to trust each other.

It would take time but they had plenty of it. When Geneva approached, Cain felt his heart lighten, knowing she was alwas around to make things better. She had a way of doing that. She was his anchor, his rock. True, it was still hard for some horses to accept draft horses in the Desert but Cain wouldn't have it any other way. He liked hard conditions. He believed it made for sturdy horses, survivors. That's what his herd was, survivors. Crow greeted Geneva and then turned back to accept his offer. Cain smiled. "Glad to hear it. I look forward to getting to know more about you, Crow." Then he asked about water and Cain nodded with a chuckle. "Of course. This way." Geneva scolded him then, saying that should have been the first place he brought him. Cain shrugged. "You're right. I'm bad with manners sometimes."

He said with a teasing smirk. He leaned into the nip she placed on his cheek, rumbling with pleasure of the pain before moving to follow her. She asked if they were coming and he snorted. "Of course. On our way." Looking to Crow, he gave a soft snort of amusement but followed at whatever pace the other stallion wanted to set. When they reached the water, he stood back to let Crow and Geneva get their fill before he stepped forward to quench his own thirst. When Legolas came into view, Cain gave a gentle nicker of greeting to his son. He told Cain there was a strange stallion following and Cain chuckled before looking toward Crow. "Very observant, Legolas. He isn't a stranger though, he's a new member of the herd. His name is Crow." Cain glanced at the other stallion. "This is my son, Legolas."
