He felt like spring would never get here! Tossing his head with a snort, he bucked and kicked as he raced across the dunes, stretching his long legs. He was getting gangly and lanky, growing up like a weed but lean with muscle. He enjoyed his time playing with Legolas. He felt like they'd explored most of the Desert by now. Sometimes he got to see Jordan from the Badlands and that was definitely fun but he couldn't help wondering when Paisley was coming back. He'd asked his father about it and his father got sad every time she was mentioned. He said he didn't know but that he'd heard her and her mother were free to come home any time. He was trying to be patient, hoping they would decide to come back soon. Akello hoped so too. He wanted to see his sister again.

He also smelled another stallion in the herd now and he was curious to meet him. If his father trusted the stallion to live here then he must be pretty cool, right? Akello wondered if he'd have any stories to tell of other lands he'd been in. Akello did like stories. Racing toward an oasis, he splashed in the water and reared up, letting out a bugle. Splashing back down in the water, he snorted and pranced back into the sand, wondering if anyone would hear.
