i do what i want

Her laughter was surprising and he wasn't sure how to take it, one ear flicking toward her before he gave a great shake of his head to rid himself of the rain that had managed to fall on his nose when he poked it out. Was she laughing at him? He scowled thoughtfully, looking every bit a sulky child for a moment as his tail swished at his flanks, but then he sighed softly and relaxed his shoulders. At least she was laughing and that was a good sign, right? He was usually always good at helping the mares of the herd relax and have a good time in his old herd. Maybe he could go back to doing that! There was a never a threat of him trying to herd them up or mount them during breeding season. He was just like the resident joker in the herd, always up for playtime and good conversation. Till he was a threat. Oh well.

The single word whispered from her lips wasn't missed, his ear flicking toward her again and one brow lifting in question, but it seemed more like something she might not want to share so instead he let one corner of his lips lift up in a smirk as he dipped his head. "You're welcome?" It came out sounding more like a question but either way, he was sure she wasn't going to elaborate. Who knows what she was thanking him for? Approaching, making a fool of himself in the rain, making her laugh? It could be anything and he didn't know anything about her but he found himself curious to find out more. Her voice was so soft, like silk. It tickled his ears and made him yearn for more of it. She explained more about the knowing him part though, saying he looked like someone she could know. It wasn't much for an explanation but it was what he was going to get so he might as well deal with it.

He could feel her gaze looking him over as if verifying whatever it was she thought was familiar. Then she said if he was someone she knew, he was the wrong color. His head tilted for a moment as he thought it over before she added like she was also the wrong color. That made him scowl a little again, looking her over briefly before he gave a snort and shook his head. "I think you're just the right color and if anyone says differently, you let me know." He raised his head a little, trying to show he could be manly when he wanted to. Then he glanced back at his own torso and back to her. "I've often been told my color is rare and beautiful, like brandished gold." He flipped his nose up a little, looking every bit the snobby gent before he gave a chuckle and lowered his head back to normal level.

She went on once more, saying if he was someone she knew, he would be angrier and his face fell a little at that inclination, concern flickering in his blue gaze. But she added on sad as well which only left him wondering more. Finally, he offered a small smile. "Well, your friends and family sound like a barrel of fun to be around. Remind me to ignore any memo's for a reunion in the future. You're the black sheep so you're less sad and angry, right?" He lifted a brow in her direction as he waited for her answer.
