The Native Ways of my people(Birithing - Lakota & Open

Cherokee hadn’t been herself since Ironclad confronted her. She avoided just about everyone after that day. She hated herself for what she did, She had just been so desperate to have a foal willingly in fear that if she waited she might never let Ironclad sire a foal. If he had been old enough she would have gone straight to him he just was not old enough. Now she hasn’t seen him since that day. At Least not up close. She didn’t know if he was intentionally ignoring her or if he was just learning new things for when he took over. Aiyana was the same spry excitable as she has been, even more so knowing she was about to have a little sibling to play with. She was oblivious to her mother's turmoil.

As dawn was approaching Cherokee wandered away from her sleeping daughter. Her head low and ears back. Maybe Ironclad would overcome his anger with her maybe not. Maybe she was destined to be alone from now on. She wanders away to a secluded area and paces back and forth as the contractions begin. It takes her all of about 30 minutes to push the chestnut filly out and she turns to groom her new daughter. She feels the motherly instincts and as of this moment any thoughts of trying to pawn her off to someone was out of the question. She didn’t think she could bear parting with her new daughter just like she couldn’t part with Aiyana.

She cleans the young filly as she thinks over everything that has happened. Maybe Ironclad will now end up sending her away or something. She didn’t know. She didn’t know what her future held now that he felt betrayed, that he felt like a failure. She lets the little filly nurse as she cleans her and then after about another half hour she leads the little filly back to her older sibling.Aiyana meet Lakota, Lakota this is your older sister AiyanaHer voice is soft and loving but there is a tinge of sadness in it. Perhaps she would find Scarecrow when Lakota was older and let him meet her but for now she would not risk angering Ironclad any more.

Aiyana was super excited to have a sibling oblivious to her mother's turmoil and Ironclad’s behavior. She still could care less about the adult problems. She slept even as her mother wandered off. It isn’t till the sun has risen and her mother made her way back to her with a little chestnut filly at her side.HI! Lakota! I'm so glad you're finally here! She says all giddy and can barely contain her excitement.
