I
didn’t want to go back to my parents, admitting defeat, because lets be honest, no one wants to hear anyone tell them ‘I told you so’ and that’s exactly what they would do. Her parents were blunt and to the point in that kind of matter. Part of me wished they’d both come here, but that was a long shot if any. My parents, they weren’t much for going back when they’d decided something. But that was another story for another day.

I
had met only a few others since showing up here, but, I needed to branch out, eventually. But that’d be something I’d come to eventually. There wasn’t a rush to find a home, was there? I wasn’t like many others, I didn’t yearn for the company full time, I didn’t need to belong anywhere. Maybe that made me strange? I wasn’t sure.

M
y eyes cast out onto the water, lost in thought, to the point where I had barely registered the nicker that signaled another’s approach. Startled, I turned my head sharply in the direction of the pale male. I had been wholly unaware of his presence. “Oh! Hi!” I spoke quickly, realizing he was there finally. He asked about trying to forget something, and I shook my head, a soft smile gracing my face. “More like wondering what my family would say if they saw me still wandering alone here.” I gave a brief half smile, not wanting my thoughts to turn back to missing my family.

W
ords, I must think of words to say. “I’m Lėja, of well, nowhere.” As I finished speaking my eyes were drawn to the arrival of another, a smaller blue roan mare. I tiled my head to the side, watching as the mare’s focus was solely on Solomon. Curious, isn’t it? There must have been some unfinished business between the two of them. But, none the less, I figured I’d at least be polite. “Hello there.” Simple, but enough to make it to where I did not feel like I was ignoring the blue girl.
