Ever since his little episode upon finding out his mate had been force bred, Dex had been lying low in Paradise, though his concern for his beloved was mounting. He knew it had to be close to her birthing time and yet she hadn't shown signs of labor yet. Was that a bad sign? Did that mean there was something wrong with the foal? He didn't want to bring it up to Talien in case it scared her unnecessarily. The last thing he wanted to do was upset her, especially in her uncomfortable situation. The more he watched her being pregnant, the more he felt sympathy for all the pregnant mares. He watched them all waddle and groan as they moved around Paradise and really, he was starting to feel like a monster for even mounting Talien last breeding season. It was like watching the longest torture session ever come to fruition. But she seemed happy about it and he tried to show his own happiness, though he kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. He knew she saw his eyes go wild during the big group session when they first got here. She knew the signs and though her presence was the only thing to calm him back down, Dex still worried that she might change her mind about him. Or worse, consider him a threat to the new foal when it was born. He'd always wanted to be a dad, but he didn't want his son or daughter to think of him as a monster. What if it was hereditary? He shivered at the very thought. The bay stallion found himself pacing restlessly by the shore of Paradise, his mind going a million miles an hour. He thought about swimming to the mainland to see if he could take his mind off things but he didn't want to leave with Talien so close to birth. He wanted to be here for her in her time of need.
