cinnamon

Cinnamon was quiet for a moment, thinking about Liland and his disappearance. It really didn’t make sense, and Cinnamon tried not to dwell on it since that would have been unhelpful. But it still nagged at him slightly. What if they had been taken? What if anyone else could be taken in the same manner? It didn’t sit right, but he couldn’t do anything about it now. He subconsciously inched closer to Zharko, as if to protect him from the mystery predator that may have dragged Liland and his family off in the middle of the night. He met Goose’s gaze for a moment, and the Vanner stallion’s confidence helped comfort him a bit.

You both are welcome here, Goose said. "I appreciate you lettin’ us stay," he said, his tone grateful. The air was warming up, but Cinnamon didn’t mind the cold of the winter island. He didn’t have the long feathers of the two Vanners he stood beside, but hardy mountain horses were evident somewhere in the red stallion’s ancestry. His winter coat was thick, and he did have mild feathering on his heels. His fur beneath the deep red fluff was still sleek, and he would be equally as comfortable in the warmer Tinuvel summer. He hoped Zharko would be comfortable as well, having thicker fur than Cinnamon but also unpleasant experiences with the cold.

He turned his dark head toward the yearling when he said he wanted to stay with Cinnamon. "Want to explore a bit, or rest and get some food?" he asked, content with either option. He did want to familiarize himself with the territory, and possibly meet the others who lived here, but hunger also gripped his stomach and he knew they were both a bit tired from the swim. Some water would do the two of them good, as well. He looked back up at Goose. "Could ya point us in the direction of some fresh water?" he asked. "All I taste right now is sea salt, and it’s not my favorite," he said with a friendly laugh.
