We found each other in the dark

Through the black starless water,
And the cold lonely air. On the rock restless seas.

Tavas heaved onto the semi-familiar shoreline of Atlantis, her gold-flecked eyes taking in the boulders that lined the beach of Bjorn's home. She felt a pang of nostalgia for the land, which had briefly been her home some time ago. The palomino mare's nostrils flared as she tested the humid air. Much to her surprise, she didn't find the Nordic stallion's musk in it. One golden ear flicked back at her poll and then the other, as she considered this. Months had passed, sure. But what could have happened that would have driven the Icelandic stud and his large herd from the Ridge?

The Tinuvel mare breathed a deep sigh and trudged on, out of the sand and into the grass of the elevated terrain. Her eyes were wide as she took in the sights. Tavas had always enjoyed this place - it was vast and the land ever-changing. She spent months of her life here, and still, she wasn't sure she'd seen all of it.

Whatever few scents remained that she remembered felt stale. And new ones threatened to wash them away completely. She twitched at her withers as a chill set in, and suddenly, the young mare felt quite vulnerable. Perhaps this trip was a mistake. She was wading into someone else's territory now - a stranger's, not Bjorn's. She held her breath as she hesitated, the long, wild grasses tickling at her knees in the passing breeze.
