Ember’s heart did not seem to slow with her stilled movement. If anything, the growing heat around her from the rising sun only served to encourage it to beat harder in her chest. She could feel the shift of the earth under her hooves and a twist of the day around her. It was a new beginning indeed and as she looked over at the stallion while they spoke, her wreckless smile twisted her dark lips.
Quiet laughter tickled her throat at his words. It seemed as though it truly was the start of something new for the man most would have considered an elder. She continued to study him, knowing full well the journey of the fool was a step one could take at any day, so long as they blindly trusted that which guided them. Dancing to the side of the stallion, the mare’s energy gave the illusion of dancing on her feet, her movements as the flames she represented.
His question of why she was there delighted her. At first she had come to greet the sun, her task had changed light a spark, or at least to fan the flames within herself and see what would burn.
