For some reason, she felt like Valka could understand what she was going through. Maybe not on a personal level because she wasn't betrothed to a stranger but she had been traded around as well and Medusa remembered well the anger the little red mare had felt because of it. But look where she was now. Medusa only hoped she could rise above all this too and accomplish half of what Valka had. She didn't want to slink back home to her parents and tell them of her troubles. No, that would feel too much like failure and that wasn't an option. Either she would make Ironclad see what he was missing and make him do good on the promise he made to her parents or she would dishonor their agreement entirely and leave him to do her own thing. She would make sure she was happy with whatever she chose, no matter what. There were flickers of something like indignation in the chestnut mare's eyes as she snorted and turned away to lead Medusa further into her home.

The dun filly followed her without hesitation, continuing her tirade on Ironclad as they walked. When she asked about her mother, Medusa nodded. "Yes, Liland was mad because my father stole his then-lead mare, Zjeena. So he got revenge by stealing my mother, though I think he got more than he bargained for. My mother is no pushover and from what I heard, Liland thought fondly of her before she was won back by my father and went home to Paradise." Medusa straightened up a little as she spoke about it. It was no secret that she admired her own mother's strength and the way she had with stallions. She had Rougaru wrapped around her finger in no time and seems the same thing happened to Liland in such a short span of time. When she asked Valka what she'd been up to, the mare told her she'd been busy but had learned a lot and now she had purpose. The tobiano filly smiled, her eyes lighting up with genuine joy for the little mare.

"Glad to hear it." For a moment, they paused and as Valka looked around, Medusa took the time to do the same. The Bay truly was beautiful. It had the cooler air of Tinuvel but the sounds of water nearby reminded her of home a little more. Her ears pricked and she turned her attention back on the chestnut as she spoke again, saying mares had more freedom and were thought of as warriors where she came from. Medusa's eyes widened in surprise at the thought, though her lips curled into a smirk, quite happy with the idea. "Wow, that sounds amazing." She knew her own mother liked to spar as readily as any stallion and she wanted to do the same once she was old enough. When Valka offered to fight for her, Medusa inhaled, growing thoughtful for a moment. In her anger, she would gladly like to see Ironclad shed some blood for her, but she had her doubts, too. Maybe he'd just tell Valka she could have her after their fight. Maybe she wasn't worth the fight to him anymore. Had she managed to kill their relationship before it even began?

She was about to follow after Valka again as she heard a call that came from the direction of the Inlet. Tensing, she snapped her head around and stared for a minute, listening to the cries of battle before a victorious bugle went up that was not familiar to her. A shiver ran across her skin as she turned back to Valka with wide eyes. "I...I think the Inlet is under new management." And just like that, all her plans were up in smoke. Ironclad was no longer an heir, at least until his father won the Inlet back or Ironclad fought for it himself. Medusa wouldn't put that past him. After their fight on the shore, he didn't waste any time swimming to another island to fight for a mare he'd only met once. Medusa snorted and rolled her eyes at the thought. She glanced down at the ground for a moment, composing her thoughts. Where did she go from here? Should she see where Ironclad plans on going? Surely his father would have an ally they could go stay with but would Ironclad go with him? The colt had proven himself independent and seemed determined to make his own way. What if he went somewhere else instead? What if he went back to that Queen?

Medusa glared at the ground, stomping her fore hoof as she thought about it. Of course, he would. He'd take it as a way to get right up against her and be the King at her side right now since he wasn't an heir anymore. He'd forget all about Medusa. Well, forget him! Maybe she was assuming too many things but at the moment, she just wanted to make a decision for herself, for once. Looking back up at Valka finally, she sighed and took a more tentative step toward her friend. "So...I don't think I want to go back to the Inlet with more strangers. I didn't know anyone else there besides Ironclad anyway and I only met his father once the day my dad took me over there. I don't know where he'd go but I probably wouldn't like it anyway. Can I...stay here for a while, at least till I figure out what I want to do? I'd hate to take advantage of your hospitality or our friendship and I promise not to overstay my welcome. I just...need to think about some things." Her eyes were hopeful as she waited for Valka's response. If she couldn't stay, then she'd probably follow Ironclad to wherever he went, at least until she saw for herself where he was going.

But if he went back to that Queen, so help her, she was turning right around and leaving his ass in the past.

OOC: Hope you don't mind me adding that last bit in to keep the thread up to date. Figured it was better than having to start a new one (:
