We found each other in the dark

And the cold lonely air. On the rock restless seas.

She left the Ridge feeling confident. Tavas felt good, better than she had in a long time. While she hadn't found what she set out looking for, she left Atlantis with something much more wholesome. The palomino mare swam with Tinuvel in her sights, looking forward to catching up with her mother before she decided what path to take next. At this point, Tavas knew in her heart it was time to leave the Inlet for good. She'd done what she came to do, what she'd asked Bjorn to let her do, those many months ago. She took care of her family, her dam, her brothers, and even her sire, after the war. But now it was time for Tavas to live her own life.

Tavas was brimming with excitement when she rose onto the familiar black-pebble beach of her home. A shiver ran down the length of her spine before she gave her soaken, yellow coat a good shake. The slender mare's nostrils flared as she tested the crisp, mountain air for her mother and father. Her eyes reeled back into tight slits when she found their scents to be stale. Tavas snorted once, the muscles under her golden hide tensing in anticipation as she trotted off the beach and deeper into the Inlet territory.

She sounded off a bugle for her family, Ironclad, Letavice, Brunhild - whoever would answer. But her shrill calls merely echoed off the boulders around her. They were not returned. Her heartbeat began to quicken in her chest. Then she caught a familiar scent in the breeze. Bjorn? All of a sudden, the young mare felt dizzy with worry. Her barrel and flanks rose and fell quickly with shallow breaths. No matter how quickly she sucked in the air, she felt like she couldn't catch her breath. What was happening?
