This is no ordinary love

When Vita Nova thinks back on her first interactions with Evren, she remembers the painted mare as nothing more than a leggy, energetic filly. Evren was always stubborn. She was smart. And she was fiercely independent. Even at that young and immature age, she fought for what she wanted. It was that firey behavior that probably drew Vita Nova to her. That, and the fact that they were alone in a giant territory with just her monster of a brother. But they survived.

Evren had more than survived. She took control of her own destiny. Where she went after Orhan's death and then Koray's, Vita Nova doesn't know. But she clearly rose to some sense of esteem here on Luthien. And she looked good. Honest, healthy, strong. The had each taken different paths, and despite being on opposite sides of a wholly awful period of their lives, Vita Nova was grateful for the chance to see and reconnect with Evren again.

Vita Nova relaxed some as the two mares seemingly never skip a beat. She immediately felt comfortable in the painted mare's presence. At the quip about her "title," Vita Nova rolls her eyes dramatically. She had always been hungry for privilege - after Koray, she just wanted someone to take care of her - but some of the lengths Warsaw went to make himself and his family out to be better than others were... rather corny, if not extreme and dangerous. Still, it was the life she chose. But the spotted mare followed her friend all the same, taking in the sights of the Forest as they strolled on and trying to keep the images from that night of the war far from the front of her mind. As they reached the creek, she dipped her head gingerly to the edge and drank her fill.

Vita Nova muses it must be the same body of water that flowed through the Prairie. It even tasted the same.

Her blue-eyed gaze shot back to Evren when the small talk began. How are things? Well, in reality, Vita Nova had just been displaced from her home. Warsaw had turned into an old cripple, and she was stuck looking after three adult children while living in the Cove under an unfavorable stallion. She sighed deeply. "I've been better, but... I'll survive." She said with a short laugh and flick of her steely tail. Vita Nova assumed it would only be a matter of time before the rest of the islands found out how Bjorn had unseated Warsaw. She barely caught any of the awkwardness of Evren mentioning her stay in the Prairie at all. Instead, Vita Nova continued on as if it was common knowledge. "It was nice to be back in the Prairie. I'd almost forgotten how much I missed it." For a second her heart ached for the land, and she considered extending her stay on Luthien again. But in reality, that wasn't feasible. Warsaw still needed her.

"But tell me about you." Vita Nova said, with the bump from her damp muzzle at her friend's shoulder. "I mean, look at you! All grown up! A leading lady of the Forest. And with kids!" She snorted then, playfully. "I never would have guessed... and with Shamwari, WOW." She said in an exaggerated fashion. "I've got to know how that happened."
