Watching the Vanner, Cullen knew his allegiance would not be easily won. He had never tried to befriend a captive before, but after what happened with Ruger he was in need of a fast way to strengthen his herd. The Lagoon did not have many members right now and he needed more to grow as strong as he once was. No, Cullen needed to grow even stronger to get back the brothers he lost and take down the Peak. It was time his long-lasting enemy got a total reset. He knew once he dealt with the current leaders of the Peak new ones would just take their place. He could deal with a new set of mares easier than the current leadership that have been given time to grow in numbers and strength.
He chuckles at Goose’s first response. The painted stallion’s threat of a bite gained some anger from Cullen. Seems he would need to teach this stallion a lesson, beat him down, in order to rebuild him into a loyal subject. If he could at all. He would attempt to talk to the stallion a bit further to see where it would go. Goose insists his mare did not need to come here and be subject to the Lagoon. Cullen didn’t blame his decision knowing most mares did not enjoy themselves here. Though he was interested in the gender of the baby in his mate’s belly. Goose then makes a comment that suggest he would be refusing training. What stallion in his right mind would refuse the right to grow stronger for his family?
”I made the offer so you could get comfortable here. I don’t foresee you leaving in the next month, you may even miss the birth of your child. I hope that gives you enough drive to grow stronger. Don’t you wish to protect your family?” Cullen was curious to know if Goose accepted the small mare as a family member or someone he just tolerates because he could not defeat her in battle.
”I do not seek your hatred which is why I promised no harm would come from your mate and unborn child. I seek Lagoon members that will fight by my side or at least alliances that will aid in gaining back my stolen members.” He allows Goose to have some information about why he has stolen him away. Instead of stealing trinkets for his men to ogle he was brought himself to stealing males in hopes someone would join his cause.
”You may not wish to officially join my herd, but at least I can help you gain your own home back. That small mare should not be allowed to walk all over you and take what is yours. You do want the Bay for a future son to inherit, don’t you?” It was a dream a lot of stallions had. Even Cullen would love for Verrat to step up and take over his throne one day, but the boy’s personality was all wrong. Having lost Verrat to the Peak he thinks his year long neglect will help make the colt stronger to one day defeat him. He must think his father has abandoned him just as his mother and sister had.
”If by some reason you and I cannot become friends I will just find a different use for you. If you don’t want to be reunited with your little family that is the path I would choose.” If Goose could not be made an ally than Cullen could use him for trade for future herd members. Goose could be used for a punching bag to train the young stallions that were joining his coven. Nothing like an offer of ambition followed by a threat if he didn’t get his way. That was a good way to make friends, right?
