Do We Really Have "Fake News"?

According to the recent article in the Atlantic Trump rejected the idea of the visit to the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery near Paris in 2018 because he “feared his hair would become disheveled in the rain, and because he did not believe it important to honor American war dead”, according to four people with firsthand knowledge of the discussion that day. In a conversation with senior staff members on the morning of the scheduled visit, Trump said, “Why should I go to that cemetery? It’s filled with losers.” In a separate conversation on the same trip, Trump referred to the more than 1,800 marines who lost their lives at Belleau Wood as “suckers” for getting killed”.

The article goes on the contain numerous quotes but fails to name a single person who remembers direct quotes from Trump two years after the incident.

It appears to me that any public official who heard such remarks would want the American public to know immediacy that their President had expressed this attitude – even if it cost them their positions. And why would the ” four people with firsthand knowledge of the discussion” remain anonymous today.

CBS this morning had an extended review off the Atlantic article with remarks form outraged citizens condemning Trump for his attitude toward the military and American heroes.

All this based on anonymous sources.
