*~My Next Collison Course~*

one hundred miles an hour...

When he heard the running hoofbeats coming from over the dunes straight ahead, he dared to dream it would be Shenzi that greeted his eyes. But alas, it was a golden bay stallion, slender in build but tense with wariness as he galloped forward to greet the paint. Collision flared his nostrils, drinking in the other male's scent and found it to be the same one marking the territory around him. Assuming this must be Maslakhat, he dipped his head respectfully to the other as he slowed before him and offered a small smile to show he meant no threat or harm. His tail swished slowly at his flanks and he glanced over the stallion's shoulder only for a moment to make sure there would be no more fast approaching hoofbeats before he turned his full attention on the bay before him. The protective gleam in the other's eye as he looked over Collision only made the overo respect him more. Shenzi must mean something to him for him to want to defend her rights over just being another number in the herd that he didn't want to give up so easily. Collision had to hope as much, at least.

The stallion spoke and the black overo pricked his ears, dipping his head again before he responded. "I was given your name by Solomon of the Cove. I am Collision Course, homeless for now, but formerly of the Lagoon. That's where I met Shenzi." He let that sink in before he spoke more, knowing the assumptions one could make when he gave an association with a bachelor herd known for treating mares like trinkets. "She wandered up one day and asked to stay there. It reminded her of her former herd. I vowed to protect her and when Cullen asked me to go fight in his war, I agreed out of loyalty to him, though I regret the decision now. I left the battle and came back to get her, hoping to take her away from that place, but I was too late. Another Lagoon stallion traded her off to Solomon, who then brought her here hoping she would find happiness. I do not seek to cause you or your herd any trouble. I only wanted to see her, to make sure she was safe and happy. The last she saw of me, I was going off to war. I want her to know I didn't abandon her." Hoping he'd summarized everything okay, the stallion waited then for the bay's response. He didn't know what to expect, or even if she was still here but he had to try.
