fearghas
Fearghas, despite his increasing age, remains relatively sheltered from the world at large. His mother had barely tolerated him, and his father had already had far too many sons to worry about one from a mare he did not care for. Thus, he had been left largely to his own devices until he was old enough to be a threat to his father, at which point he was abruptly dumped on his rump and thrown out to the world at large with a vague promise that there was a bachelor herd out there somewhere.
Immediately following this had been his claim of Aallotar, and then more months of what was not quite solitude, but certainly not far from it. She was the most civilizing force the spotted colt had ever experienced, and the more time they spent together, the more he cared about what she thought of him. He wanted her approval and affection, even while he simultaneous did not feel as though he deserved it. He knew he was the worst kind of villain, the one who was so oblivious to the workings of the world that he sowed chaos and pain everywhere without meaning too, simply because of his naivete.
He is prepared for many types of reactions from her, but to see her coming closer was not one of them. He stiffens at first, preparing for a blow that never comes. Instead, she wraps herself wordlessly around him and he relents to cradle her back. The skin where her muzzle rests feels as though it's on fire and the rest of him is prickly with heat he does not understand, but he can't focus further than the silk soft feel of her skin beneath his muzzle as he skims it over her shoulders.
Reluctantly, Fearghas's gaze rises to the pale stallion with unease written all over it. He has scented this male often enough, and even seen him from afar, but after his disastrous encounter with Cullen, Fearghas was loathe to meet any of the other Lagoon inhabitants for fear of them being like the boss. His head lifts and ears turn back, about to make up his mind to separate the giant pale stallion from Ally when he greets her with familiarity.
More surprising is the warmth with which she responds, joking with him even and an awkward sort of jealousy twists in his gut. The spotted stallion sets his jaw and remains quiet for the time being, allowing his gaze to dark between the two of them as they get reacquainted with each other. Even when Kendry asks of their names, addressing Fearghas directly, he remains mute and lets Ally steer the conversation as she chooses.
It is only when she defiantly states that she will not be a prisoner for long that his wariness rises. Fearghas did not know Kendry and had no reason to believe that he would be any different from Cullen. "Ally," he says, although his tone wavers between worried admonishment and fear of what this stallion could do. Emboldened by her earlier caress, he stretches out to bump her shoulder for a moment before flicking his glance very pointedly to Kendry and shaking his head.
After a moment of this, he quickly turns back to Kendry and raises his head, attempting to decipher through a gaze sharp enough to cut glass as to whether Ally had just brought another adversary into their path. "She doesna belong here, ye ken? It was my mistake to bring 'er here, and I dinna want her in danger anymore."
Although he does not stomp in emphasis as he might have scant months ago, there is a definitive bob to his muzzle as he states what his intention. Ally would not stay here any longer than he could help it.
