When she didn't immediately turn to him, his heart dropped, hoping she wasn't disappointed in him for not challenging Galexia himself. He ached for her to turn just for a moment, just to see for himself that her eyes weren't burning with judgement. When she did finally turn to him, he tried to read her silent expression but she was unreadable as he spoke. The soft sigh made him brace for bad news and only when she said that she understood did he let out a breath of relief. He nodded. "I agree, but I think she needed to learn that for herself. Luckily, she did before she got hurt, which I'm grateful for." A single ear flicked back when she pointed out that they didn't have a lead mare to challenge her. He knew without a doubt that Geneva would have stepped up without hesitation. She was always decisive like that. Maybe some day he'd find someone like that again, but he wasn't in a hurry. He saw so much in each of his mares. He couldn't wait to see what they were all capable of.

"I would say I'm sorry you felt you had to do that but I was impressed with your new confidence. I'm glad you feel so strongly about your home...about me." He smiled at the end, the warmth reaching his eyes as he studied her. "I know we haven't had all the time in the world to get to know each other, but I see the greatness in you and I think you're starting to recognize that, too." He was glad he didn't lose her when Galexia claimed the desert. She was a rare find, having come to him instead of him having to escort her back to the desert. To see her flourishing into such a decisive mare herself, he looked forward to what she could do in the future. As she stepped closer, he inhaled her sweet scent, his skin trembling with pleasure at the close proximity before she reached out to bump his muzzle. Her words had his gaze widening in surprise before he composed himself with an even bigger smile. "I missed you, too."

He murmured back softly, his gaze studying hers. She still seemed so shy but at other times, she was starting to come out of her shell and he loved it. She said she didn't want to go back to the crossing and said she'd like to stay in her home. Just calling the desert her home was enough to make his heart skip a beat with happiness that she was accepting this place as where she belonged. He shook his head. "You are free to come or go as you please. If you want to stay, you are more than welcome to. I'd like the company." He added on with a small smirk, his eyes twinkling.
