The sudden whistle from unfamiliar lips had the young colt sliding to a halt, ears swiveling around as his head twisted to meet the black mare's gaze. His nostrils flared, taking in her scent. She didn't smell of Tinuvel, but he'd never met a horse from anywhere else anyway. His tail gave an excited swish as he turned his body to face her, though there was a wary look in his eyes. He wasn't so outgoing that he would approach just anyone. That was more like his sister, Raptor. He was always the more laid back one, the cautious one. He didn't want to start any trouble, after all. The mare seemed harmless as she waited for his response but he couldn't be too careful. She smelled of another island and he found himself curious. What was her home like? He had come to the crossing to explore, after all. As she spoke, the colt snorted softly before dipping his head politely in greeting as he'd been taught. "Hi." He said in return.
When the mare asked if he was visiting, he nodded his head slowly. "I'm old enough to make the swim now so I'm checking out the other islands. Where are you from?" He tilted his head as he watched her, holding his ground but his skin quivered, ready to run at the slightest change in body language.
