She was a little surprised, to say the least, when that familiar voice called out for her. Ironclad and her relationship had been rocky from the start, but she hoped the future would bring some kind of resolution. The time she spent with Valka in the bay was good for her mind and body. She was able to heal from the ahce she felt over losing her parents as guardians and everything else she'd always known. Going to the inlet was supposed to be an adventure and maybe she had fairy tales in her head in she got there and that was on her. She should have known better. Her mother didn't paint a frilly picture in her head of a prince charming that would sweep her off her hooves and make her the light of his day, but she was disappointed, none the less, at all the attention Ironclad had already gained amongst the female kind and how little of it she was getting. Jealousy...that was on her too. He was to be a king and with that came a harem of mares for him to build a legacy with. He needed to build those relationships just like Rougaru did with his mares.

Her mother understood this so she needed to as well with Ironclad. Running away was petty, but the time away did help ease her mind in a way she felt she needed at the time. When Ironclad came back to see her, she had no hesitation in leaving with him cause she knew this time, it would always be her choice. No one else's. She would always look back on her time with Valka and cherish it. She learned a lot from the little red mare. But now she needed to pave her own way in this world. She'd rather do it with someone at her side and she owed it to her parents to give this thing with Ironclad a real chance this time. He was young too so they needed to learn from each other now and become the leaders the inlet needed. Warsaw was gone. Medusa didn't know the details, nor would she ask. It might be painful for Ironclad. He lost his father...she couldn't even imagine if something happened to Rougaru. She wasn't a daddy's girl, but he was still her hero.

The herd seemed small for now, but Medusa knew that could change in time. Maybe she could even help with that. When she first came back to the inlet, another stallion had tried to take her, but he learned quickly that she wasn't coming without a fight. And Ironclad had surprised her yet again by running up against the larger stallion as well. Showing his strength like that had showed Medusa a new side of the young stallion. She knew she needed to give him more of a chance this time. She wasn't in a hurry to get to him when he called, wanting him to sweat a little as she grazed leisurely. Finally, after a few more bites, she snorted and tossed her head before galloping across the inlet to meet him. Sliding to a stop before him, she pricked her ears and raised her head in challenge, meeting his gaze as he started to speak. Important things? She really was listening now. His honesty was surprising really. What kind of stallion admits he's worried? One ear flicked back before she snorted and tugged her lips into a smirk.

"Spar me sometime and we can find out." Then he said he wanted her to be his queen and she tilted her head, watching him for a moment. He was being serious. She hadn't expected it to just be handed to her, really, not after running to the bay with Valka. She figured he might make her work for it or something to stroke his ego a little. She waited though, because the look on his face said there was more to it and she wanted to know all the catches before she agreed to anything. Her nostrils flared as she waited, stomping a front hoof impatiently and swishing her tail before he spoke again. Here it was, the catch. Her heart did go out to him a little when he mentioned his twin brother leaving. It was one thing to lose your father, but to lose someone else so close at the same time had to be hard for him. He wanted her to work with another mare, the one who was supposed to be at his brother's side. She shifted her weight in discomfort as she scowled thoughtfully. What if the other mare was weak?

He went on, though, saying the other mare would be beneath her, but above the rest of the herd. He told her she was free to challenge, steal, and recruit members. Her blue and brown eyes twinkled at the idea of challenging and stealing. That must be fun. He said the other mare, Lace, would be looking out for the mares and helping with the children. Really, it was starting to sound like Lace was getting the short end of the stick. He said he hadn't even talked to her about it. When he asked her thoughts, Medusa finally shrugged. "If she's okay with being the glorified babysitter and grocery getter, I guess that's cool with me. Sounds like a rough job, to be honest." She took a daring step closer to Ironclad, reaching toward him. Hesitating for a moment, she took a breath and then stretched her muzzle to exchange breaths with him. Breathing in his scent, she was surprised to find it sweet and intoxicating. Snorting softly, she brushed the uncomfortable thoughts back for a moment as she sobered her expression and searched his handsome features.

"Ironclad, I will prove myself to you. I don't ask for everything to be handed to me and I don't expect it. I want to stand at your side and fight at your side. I will make our allies strong and our enemies bleed. I know I'm young and I have a lot to learn. I want to learn with you, even from you. I want to be the queen you and the Inlet deserve." Taking another deep breath, she lowered her head a little, her eyes softening with sadness. "I was sorry to hear about your father."
