It gave him a sort of renewed purpose, having that strange perlino stallion come after his daughter. Not that he ever wanted any member of his herd in danger, but it reminded him that he had a job to do as a lead stallion. He was protector for his herd, but he also needed to try to grow his herd as he could. That part of his job had been slow as of late, but he would try to be better. It wasn't about having the biggest herd on the islands. He wanted to make a sanctuary for the mares who needed it, to let them see that a stallion could be a giver, not a taker. He offered protection and a place to call home with none of the conditions. They didn't have to give him children or ask permission before going anywhere. They could leave whenever they wanted. He would raise their children as his own, no matter the lineage. He would never force something on them. They had freedom to govern themselves and choose their own lead mare.

He knew the desert was no paradise, but to him, it was home. He wasn't the usual type to be comfortable in such a place. The heat did get to him sometimes, but he had the caverns to give him cooler air when he really needed it. He was used to years of staying out in the sun with no shelter and days without water. Living in the desert was no picnic, but it was heaven compared to that. The large stallion shook out his coat as he walked up on the shore, his large head lifting as he looked out over the meadow. Maybe he'd find someone here, or maybe he'd just make conversation with someone who needed it. That was okay, too. Either way, he needed to get away for a minute to figure out his next step.
