General Custer Posted on 12/7/2020 at 21:10:56 by Charlie Shelton
I recently saw a TV show and a soldier was about to join General Custer who was about to go after Chief Sitting Bull a known tough fighter. I recall selling newspapers on an Army base near my home town of Charleston,S.C. during WW2 and a Sgt. told me it was being closed but I could take home a large oil painting which had hung on the wall of the NCO club. It was Custer's Last Stand which the Anhouser Busch
company had distributed. It hung over my bed until my parents moved to California in 1955. I later learned that Custer was not a great hero but a guy desperate to pull of a military feat to offset a very defective Army career. Oh well, in the movie Erol Flynn made him appear herioc as I recall!
