comfort me with apples, for i am sick of love ROUGARU/CICEK/OPEN

Solomon had stopped counting the days since his flower girl had disappeared. By now they numbered more than he could bear and filled him with a deep ache that nothing could soothe. He had foolishly hoped that he would find her beautiful face among the flowers of the Ridge, where the two mares that had captured her heart before he'd ever entered it resided. Instead, all he found were blank stares.

Day after day, he raised Şevket alone. And day after day he watched their handsome son deal with the absence of his mother. There was nothing he could do to soothe either of their open wounds, which was almost as painful as the fact that Çiçek had left in the first place. As much as he didn't want to accept that this separation was permanent, it was far too reminiscent of the disappearances he'd endured before. Harley Quinn. Coda. Morgause. Ensign. Keres. And so many others. It would be delusional for him to hold too strongly onto his hope, and yet he could not let go of it.

Çiçek had to come back.

Already he traipsed upon the lands of the Inlet and the Bay searching for her when he could not find her among the Cove, and then he had gone to the Ridge in the hopes that she had simply sought a reunion with the Ridge women. Then to the Crossing, where he thought perhaps she had gone to meet a friend or take advantage of new scenery. When that proved equally fruitless, he was left with only one other place to check, even though he could think of no reason for Çiçek to come here. At the very least, he could ask Rougaru to keep an eye out for his flower girl.

With a heavy heart, Solomon strode past the border of Paradise and lifted his head to call for Rougaru. He did not know the wolf's queens well enough to address them by name, but he supposed they might know even more than the lead himself. As the silence fell, he couldn't help it and lifted his head to call for Çiçek as well. The odds of her being here were slim to none, but his desperation was growing legs and threatening to run away with him.

Summons made, Solomon fell to a fitful stop, his emerald gaze roving the unfamiliar jungle with a tension that radiated through all of his muscles. This was, as far as he could tell, his last hope in locating her. If this failed, he wasn't sure what he would do with himself. Having to go home and tell Şevket that he had failed in locating his mother - again - would break both of their hearts, and he wasn't entirely sure he was ready.
