i'll get under your skin

She was still getting used to all the change happening in the Dunes. New leaders, though she didn't mind having to answer to Antares and Sayyida. Sayyida was still considered her first real friend on the islands, after all, and she was a good one, in Corona's opinion. She brought her to this place, her home. The gray mare couldn't think of another place she'd rather be. The Dunes were where she wanted to be forever. She'd never really gotten a chance to bond with the former leader, Maslakhat, but she did make herself known to him briefly. She made him race her one day and then walked away with a thank you thrown over her shoulder, like he should be grateful that she got him out and about. It was one of her greatest moments, and yet the only time she'd ever get to meet the golden bay, it would seem.

For the next time she caught a glimpse of him, he was still and growing cold, lying in the blood soaked sand. But that wasn't what tugged at her heart strings. She knew the stallion, but not well enough to mourn him. A death was tragic, but the small colt pressing against his father's corpse? That was truly heart breaking. Corona recognized the colt as Gecersiz, Sidika's son, and she was quick to look for the mare, knowing she wouldn't be far. When she did find the mare, however, her blood started to boil. The mare looked hot and was taking her anger out on a dark stallion who was built oddly enough like Maslakhat himself. Blood dripped from fresh wounds on the stallion so Corona could only assume that he was the former leader's killer.

Sidika obviously wanted revenge, but Corona saw red when the stallion turned on her in retaliation. A scream left her lips as she charged the two horses, throwing herself between the healer and the stallion. She let out a harsh grunt as his hooves connected with her barrel and sent her stumbling into Sidika. Her side was on fire and she couldn't be sure she didn't have cracked ribs or something, but her adrenaline was pumping so she pushed the pain aside for now, turning back to face the stallion the minute she could right herself. Her teeth gnashed at the air as she lunged at him, her front hooves lashing out at whatever she could while she snaked her neck and bit at his face and neck, trying to drive him away from Sidika. "You've already taken her son's father. Don't you think you've done enough?" She snarled at the stallion, hoping he'd get the message and take off.
