He paused to let the mare take in his approach, trying to keep his body language relaxed and mellow so she saw no need to fear him. He learned early from his father that his big size might be intimidating to others, especially females who were used to bad treatment. He didn't want anyone to fear him so he learned how to appear smaller and harmless and became very observant of body language so he'd know how to adapt to keep the other party reassured that he meant no harm. It seemed to be working so far with the black mare. She pricked an ear toward him but didn't look like she was going to bolt. She finally nickered back at him and his smile widened joyously in response. She gave her name as Endora and he dipped his head in acknowledgement. Manners were engrained into him as a child from both his parents. "A pleasure to meet you, miss Endora." Of course, he had tons of questions he wanted to ask her but he was maturing and learning that they couldn't answer all those questions at once so he needed to time it out and space them more appropriately. His ears pricked and his tail flicked happily at his flanks as he watched her, instead. His head tilted as he thought of the first one he'd like to ask. "You have a strange accent. It's not funny or anything. I like it. You're not from around here, are you?" A single ear flicked back as he wondered if he might offend her with his words. When she asked if he was native here, he was quick to nod. "Yep, I was born on Salem, in the Desert. My father, Cain, is the leader there." He lifted his head proudly as he spoke of his home and his family. He missed them terribly, already, but was trying not to show it. He needed to be strong.
