Rules• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders. • Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission. • All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say. • Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met. • You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page. • Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce. |

Carbon had observed a lot while growing up in the Desert. He watched how his father interacted with other horses, both stallions and mares. He watched how he was with family, with mares he was courting and mares who already had his heart and respect. Like a sponge, Carbon soaked it all in and could use it now when talking to the older lead stallion. He had ventured out of Salem as a yearling and socialized with anyone he came across. He'd never been shy as a colt and no one was an enemy until proven otherwise. Maybe he could have fought harder to regain his freedom and go back home if he wished, but he knew his father wanted to accomplish something by letting him come, so he would see what help he could be. There had to be a reason for him being here and he would find out what it was. The older stallion was silent and Carbon knew he was being watched just as carefully as he was watching the other. When the young stallion questioned him, he thought he saw a flicker of anger in the golden stallion's eyes but didn't respond to it, letting the other gather his thoughts before he spoke. Finally, he said that he disagreed with Cullen on some things, but he told the truth. Carbon nodded his head, following the stallion's gaze as he looked around. It would certainly be a change here than in the Desert. The air wasn't as heavy and the sand beneath his hooves not as thick. His ears stayed on the Lagoon leader as he spoke his own opinions and how everyone's experiences shape them. He told Carbon he would get to learn from a lot of different perspectives and the knowledge would serve him well. He dipped his head in agreement. "I do think I'll learn a lot from being here, but I doubt my morals will change." Maybe the other stallion wouldn't like to hear that, but he was welcome to his own opinion, just as he'd said. Rade went on to say he could show him the value of everything here then maybe they could visit the Desert. He thought for a moment before nodding his head. "I'd like to see what the Lagoon can offer. And I'd be more than happy to escort you to Salem whenever you wish. I'm sure my father would be curious to meet you." He honestly didn't know how his father would feel about the new leader of the Lagoon, but it might be an intersting meeting to see.
