Boss's Decree

"For every brother you bring to our
midst, you may keep a trinket all to
yourself. She will not be sullied or traded, unless you deem otherwise. But should you bring a mare here without a new brother first, then I will consider her property of the Lagoon as a whole
and do with her as I see fit." - Garmr

Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

Switch isn't entirely what to expect of the idealistic young colt. He seemed so out of place among the other Lagoon men that she found herself doubting his intentions and motives. While she had not taken the time to meet the majority of Lagoon men, the ones that she had met shared enough similarities for her to understand that the type of stallions that came willingly here lacked empathy. Her dark gaze narrows on him as he responds, as if expecting him to suddenly change demeanor and go after her.

Concern knits the colt's brows as he turns his dark gaze back to her body and she knows he is judging her for her lack of condition. The days after her thwarted escape attempt had been bleak, leaving her with little appetite and no desire to mingle. The grass nearest her small alcove had been all but grazed to the roots - which was part of why she'd stopped hiding in the first place. Even the thought of the callous Lagoon men could not keep her in hiding forever, not now that she knew their hearts were truly filled with cowardice. What more could the Lagoon do to her that they had not already done?

The dark stallion continues on, referencing that he had a father on Salem that might be willing to fight for her. It was such a strange concept to her - that a stranger would risk his life for a mare he had not met on the word of his son, but she couldn't deny the rush of hope that blossomed suddenly in her chest. Switch wasn't sure if she was comfortable with someone fighting for her, considering it left far too many questions about obligations and owed allegiance, but she also wasn't in a position to be choosy. Her child would be here soon, and if she did not act sooner rather than later, it would be too late for them.

"He would do that?" The words tumble out of her mouth without her conscious choice to voice them, and she hates the naked hope that rises in their tone. Her gaze narrows in suspicion as something else occurs to her. "You would do that?"

Flicking her tail irritably against her distended barrel she levelled her best mom-glare at him. "Why?"
