She was never a smooth talker, never one to honey her words or pretty them up so they sound better. No, the truth was better served straight and cold. She didn't play the "girls stick together" game. Most mares either tended to love her or hate her. It was admirable really to see the thick bond the two mares before her held. In a way, it was a painful reminder of Zjeena and her loss of the cream mare who once held the other half to her soul. Monster missed her with a passion and not even Rougaru could slake the burn in that empty nest where the other mare once stood. She was starting to think she would never see Zjeena again. She could resent these mares for it, hate them for having each other, but that wasn't in her either. She felt slighted because in a way, they had doomed the opinion of mares that act on their emotions. Rougaru won the fight fair and square and his conditon was a blood alliance. Faolain agreed to it and Riviani stepped in her place to carry and birth his son. That should have been binding. They should have kept their word and left things well enough alone, but no, Faolain had to be the concerned female and go tend to a mare throwing a fit on the shores of Paradise and now the alliance was up in the air. It infuriated Monster that she didn't think it was a big deal, that her word wasn't important enough to stand by. If you don't have your word, what do you have? Obivously just bad manners. It was easy enough to see the judgy look in their eyes the moment they smelled Paradise on her skin. Probably dubbed her Rougaru's little puppet. Well, whatever. They could think she had string to pull all they wanted. It only made them look the fool in the end. She had her own thoughts and her own opinions. If anything, she had to wonder now if Rougaru asking her to bring Alpha with her was a ploy of his to keep her restrained. If he wasn't with her, she'd already be at the girls' throats by now, but she had to think like a mother, not just a warrior. She had to protect him, even if he thought he could protect himself. So instead she held her ground, but her gaze never faltered as it looked from one mare to the other expectantly. She should have known Faolain would choose wrong. She was playing the tough card, meeting Monster's demands with some of her own. She had no idea the box she was about to open. When the black mare said she owed nothing, a hiss of air slithered through the painted viper's teeth and her two toned eyes narrowed. A chuckle dripped from her lips before she could stop it when the mare even offered a subtle threat. Even as her eyes dared to move to Alpha, the yearling tensed and gnashed his jaws in warning, his own eyes narrowing back at her. "Your generosity is dutifully noted, Faolain, and so are your threats." A sneer tugged across her lips as she then took a step back. Alpha looked at her in confusion for a moment, but as he met her gaze, his own crinkled with glee, cause he knew his mother well enough to know she always had a plan. He turned to grin at the two mares, his lips curling back to show teeth before he moved past Monster and toward the borders with a happy jaunt to his walk. The grullo paint met their gazes once more, smug satisfaction on her features. "You're right, Faolain. You owe me nothing, because now you ARE nothing to me and to Paradise. Keep your explanations. They're probably as worthless as your alliance was." Snickering, she turned on her heels and trotted past the borders and into Paradise. They were going to find out just how good she was at holding a grudge...and at making enemies.
