Grace drifts. There’s something ethereal about her, almost like she’s not real. That’s fair, though. It was snowing lightly, the sort you only see in movies. Thick and fluffy flakes drifting down, catching in her mane and resting on her eyelashes. They rest there and hold, not melting. No, the day was too cold for that. A frosty day, but Grace is so incredibly happy with it. It’s hard not to be excited when it comes to the winter days like these, after all. Days like these were iconic.
And so was Grace. She’s laughing to herself, racing through the fluffies. The mare had been on her own for so long now, she’d resigned to playing on her own. It wasn’t bad, really. No, the young woman would kick up her heels and race herself. Chasing after her own shadow as it grew taller, and taller, sky growing grey. It would set soon, but she didn’t really mind. Another day, another night on her own.
No, for now she would play. She would play on her own, tail flipping behind her. It’s tousled, and a little wild. Grace is enjoying herself greatly. Her steps are high, coming quickly and plowing on through the powder. Everything was okay, today. Grace was trying to learn how to be happy on her own. She didn’t need to be dependent on anyone, right? Right?
Nah, that was false. Grace was so immensely lonely. Though she was having fun for now, the sadness will settle over her as the evening came on. She comes to a halt at the edge of the falls, lowering her muzzle to the water and taking a long drink. For a moment Grace studies her reflection in the grey light of the afternoon. Ah yes, that is still what she looks like. Maybe not much has changed.
