will you come to find me? Hades

The trip to the Crossing had been exciting, but the young mare had been happy to return home. The familiar smells of Atlantis were comforting, as was the warmth it offered. The knowledge of the herd lingering nearby, and even the protection it extended. But she had not seen them since returning. Had stuck to the shadows, halfway afraid that they would be in trouble for their little adventure if the scent was found on their skin. The other half wanted to flaunt what they had done. To show how grown up and brave they had been for making the swim all on their own.

A soft smile touched the young girl’s lips when she thought about Hades, and how he had let her determine what their choices had been. It had been his fault they had even left, but she hadn’t bothered to scold him for leaving her. His actions had made up for it in her mind. Plus, it wasn’t as if he had been able to leave her behind; not entirely, since she had spotted him and was able to catch up. The bonus was they got to see where Roi lived, which was super awesome. Even if they had run into that strange pale mare first, who had clearly did not care for stallions. Perhaps she had found a home with Roi instead, since that had been a home meant for mares?

Shaking her head, Finch cleared away her random thoughts and peered through the thick foliage that surrounded her. Somewhere amongst it was Hades; she could still smell his fresh scent. “Hades?” she said softly, her voice gentle and barely above a whisper. In the last couple of seasons, the young mare had noticed a change. From the girly, squeaky sounds she once made to the soft harmonic voice she now had. Finch was becoming a woman, even if she didn’t really know how.

“I’m going to get a drink.” She probably didn’t need to tell him what she was doing. He was ever vigilant and would probably notice her disappearance before she had even fully gone. But something in her, perhaps from how she had come to be in the Ridge, always wanted to make sure that Hades didn’t think she was leaving. Strange as it might be, Finch never feared the same from him. It was only Hades that held such trust. Earned the day he had laid his silent claim to her.
