As a just recent 3 year CPL USMC , As a Plebe '54 I gave one
Marine a chewing out on the range because there were no candle or carbide lamps available to blacken our M1 rifles sights, An essential thing for good marksmanship!. HE was just a "Boot" PFC but I am sure in a few weeks he was on the way to join the Frst Marine Division In Korea. The Marine Barrack was depleted after the North Koreans attacked the South.
