Boss's Decree

"For every brother you bring to our
midst, you may keep a trinket all to
yourself. She will not be sullied or traded, unless you deem otherwise. But should you bring a mare here without a new brother first, then I will consider her property of the Lagoon as a whole
and do with her as I see fit." - Garmr

Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

HEROES GET REMEMBERED

A curiosity had bloomed in the chest of the worn, old general. She would still wear her title, at least in her own mind. It didn’t matter that election season was upon them. It didn’t matter that her own daughter had put herself up for Codebreaker-- honestly, Anath couldn’t help but be disappointed. The daughter of a boss and a general, and yet she went for something so soft? Something as soft as to deal with the politics of things? If Bane had any social graces, they certainly hadn’t come from her mother. It made Anath think briefly of the child’s father, and of her brother. What a concept.

Summer days were upon them. The legend was, at least, grateful for that. There was no telling what the winter chill would do to her bones. No telling what the treacherous ice that formed towards the top of the Peak would do to her footing. No telling what any of it would bring. In the summers, at least, she could be strong and brash and bold. No chill to settle into her bones. Anath had taken longer than she really cared to, to recover from the swim here. No matter. Summer was here, and long days likely meant chasing down more of her ghosts.

So the Lagoon it was. A resident of the Peak, it was more than likely she wouldn’t be welcome here, but she also didn’t care. It’s not frowned upon if you don’t get caught. She’d hedge the border for just long enough to see if she could still smell Zavulon on it… or, she thought with a pang, Thane. The rational part of her brain knows that he’s long gone, likely long dead. His lungs had been choking him out, and he’d been a dead man walking even when Bane and Stratton were born. Anath knows that he’s gone but she needs to know for herself.

And there was no swimming. She could simply walk across the Crossing, bolder than brass. With the warmth of the summer, she even finds herself picking up a floating, easy jog. Though the largest island, it was smaller than what she’d traversed in the mainland, and her stamina doesn’t waver. Old, not dead. All Anath would keep reminding herself-- old, not dead. There was still some life in her. Still some fire in her eyes. Today, of all days, the old general was feeling good.

It was at the edge of the Lagoon she rested, stretching her neck high. A soft breeze blew in, and she takes time to process what she smells on it. Though something scratches her brain, an odd familiarity, she can’t place it. It leaves Anath lingering in her own thoughts for a long moment… two long moments. Were there ghosts here? Were they memories? Or was it something else entirely?
