legends never die

Almost like being adrift in a dream, Bane set herself steady on the rocky shore of the Inlet. Her knees quaked just slightly. The pressure of the sea, the exertion of the travel, it was a lot. She wasn’t in the best shape, not for this. It was hard to know just how much work the swim would be. The sea had been unkind today. Bane could still hear it roaring in her ears, feel it buffeting her sides, as she stood upon the beach.

From too far to focus, he seemed to appear out of nowhere. Bane looked up and there he… there he was. Tension bloomed within her ribcage. She was strung tightly, woven together with something strange, something curious. It’s… him. The face of a man that was not so foreign, but not so… not so near either. Heart pounding in her chest. She had to will the shaking in her knees to stop. Right.

Carefully, she studied him with hazy green eyes. “I think I met you in a dream.” Well, better to come right out and say it, right? Bane didn’t know what else to say. She took a step back, gaze turning sheepish. “Sorry I--” but what was she sorry for? Sorry for having no social skills. Sorry for being a bother. Sorry for walking into your house and telling you about my weird dreams. Really, at this point, he could take his pick.

All Bane could do was wait.
