Boss's Decree

"For every brother you bring to our
midst, you may keep a trinket all to
yourself. She will not be sullied or traded, unless you deem otherwise. But should you bring a mare here without a new brother first, then I will consider her property of the Lagoon as a whole
and do with her as I see fit." - Garmr

Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

You’re not Salinger. Get over it.

Maybe there were things missing from his account of that day. Jaskier had been aggressive towards Frey, but Frey had been aggressive back. Their verbal altercation, the argument they’d had… maybe it had been formative for the sooty colt. He’d never learned to control his negative feelings, and he was never going to take the high road. The high road was the same as backing down, and the brindle creatore had insulted his family. It wasn’t going to fly, not in his mind. Still, he watches Anne’s posture deteriorate even more. The guilt in the sooty colt’s stomach was overwhelming.

She was crying. Frey was out of his depth. Still, he’s compelled to reach out. Softly, the general’s son reached out to touch her shoulder. It’s a gesture meant to comfort her, even if he doesn’t know how. Emotions aren’t something he’s well versed in dealing with. Women, too, are a mystery he has yet to solve or really even understand. Frey has no way of knowing if she’s going to recoil, if she’s going to lash out. Honestly, even if she did want to strike him, Frey wouldn’t blame her.

Frey kept his posture as relaxed as he could manage, listening to her words and her pain. There was trauma here. “Your feelings are justified,” he says with a soft sigh. The damage to Anne was collateral, but it was damage nonetheless. “You’re hurting, how can I help?” There had to be something, anything, that Frey could do for her. He has yet to understand the view that the rest of the world seemed to have of the Lagoon. Though the young stallion was quick to attempt to solve things with a fight, he wasn’t a monster. There was softness here, tenderness.

Anne was his responsibility, at least for now. All Frey wanted to do was show her that he cared.
