Duck, Duck, Goose!

Goose had not chosen the Bay as his home on emotion at the time either. He'd been used to the cold and it had been a logical choice for what island he'd chosen. The warmth was okay with him, but too extreme like a desert and it just hadn't ever been for him. This change would have been something unpleasant and uncomfortable for him. Eventually though; it had become a place of existence and love. A place of familiarity and comfort. His family were here and his world was here. There was nowhere else in the world he really wanted to be.

Why then? Why had they left? Goose didn't have that answer and neither did Riddler. Questions left to mystery and perhaps never to have an answer. Goose didn't really care about that anymore now though. Home. This was home and Valka was still here. His friend; his family. At least he could reminisce on that. Where was Loire though? Where was his songbird? Goose didn't have that answer either. Perhaps she had gone out to look for them? Goose imagined this is what Valka would confirm in time given shortly here.

Attention is on the mare now though as she leaned into him. He relished in the comfort of the warmth her smaller body brought him. It was familiar and it was welcoming. Oh how he had missed the touch of his dearest friend. A land was merely a place beneath your feet to which you chose to make your existence in. Touch though; comfort? This was so much more. This was home. Goose truly believed that and he was pretty sure that Valka thought very similar of this. The words that came from her throat were definitely welcome on his ears as he twitched them to the sound of her voice and listened. A smile brushed his lips as serenity touched those rich eyes of his.

A moment she had looked away to his son as though to see if he had understood her as Goose had. There is a moment where Riddler's gaze was slightly confused but he seemed to get over that relatively quickly and seemed to catch on as a smirk etched over his features. Goose caught words again from Valka then and intently; he did listen. "I am sorry Valka, that I put you through that feeling of loss. I am glad to be home. We both are." He had no intention of ever putting her or them through that kind of loss in feeling and emotion again. Perhaps he'd have to prove that but Goose would do just that. He belonged with them, this was his family. This was his home in them. Words seemed to come again from Valka toward Riddler, but also toward them both. Dread began to ache deep into the soul of him.

Loire had left? To find them perhaps? Valka had not been sure as Loire had gone without a word of goodbye or estimation of returning. This worried the draft to no end. Why? Loire always knew they'd come back. At least; in the past she had. Even if it had been an extended absence that Goose had taken. Loire had always believed in his return. Maybe that they'd both left though. Riddler and he? Is this why Loire had left in search of them? If that is why she had left at all? Goose believed that to be the reasoning behind her absence now. Why hadn't' she come back though? Had it not been a while from the way that Valka was talking now about having failed her and that she couldn't be protected now out there? Goose was confused not in Valka's words but in the reasoning behind Loire's not having returned yet. Where was she?

It is not Goose that had spoken now though. Pulled from his thoughts as the growing lad spoke toward Valka and Goose listened. "Valka. Ma'am. You are not to blame. She is as free a soul as any of us are." Riddler pauses to catch a breath as he brushed his nose against the mare's cheek in return. "Please, do not blame yourself. You are right. We cannot protect her out there, but it is not to put any fault upon you. Mother was always a strong but gentle soul. She will continue to be as such upon her return. Do not blame yourself." The boy was wise beyond himself and perhaps that was brought on more by the journey that father and he had taken. One could only assume on that though. Whatever the reasoning behind it though; those words had rang out without hesitation toward his matriarch and friend.

Goose could only smile at his boy then. What intelligence in those words. What maturity from a colt. Perhaps closer to his adult age, and yet so far. Goose is proud of his son though. There is no doubt about it. His attention shifts back to Valka and he smiles again. "Of course Riddler is right. You cannot blame yourself Valka." His eyes sang of so much belief in this. No, their leader and friend is not at fault. Continue of words had begun again from him. "How have things gone in our absence? Has much turmoil been seen, or has peace been kept to now?" Goose is curious of course. He would rather it be peace but one could never be too sure where multiple homes were accounted for upon the islands.
