What ever happened to "Stand in the pay line, get your shot, then get your pay." I remember a couple times in Bennington (CVS-20) doing that routine. Everyone - including embarked squadrons also got to join in. Or are the Armed Forces a "Pick-and-choose" what you want to do or don't want to do organization. I preferred the old way. Do as you're told! That's an order!!!
