Boss's Decree

"For every brother you bring to our
midst, you may keep a trinket all to
yourself. She will not be sullied or traded, unless you deem otherwise. But should you bring a mare here without a new brother first, then I will consider her property of the Lagoon as a whole
and do with her as I see fit." - Garmr

Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

KNOW THAT I WOULD GLADLY BE
the icarus to your certainty

He’s dreaming.

He’s tucked away in the shadows of the Lagoon trees and he’s dreaming. He’s home again on Luthien, the place he felt most comfortable. Devi’s laughter is in his ears. They’re running together, playing. Orphiel never felt more revered than when Devi’s loving eyes were his. Her mother’s, too. In this dream he’s allowed to have the happiness he’s had all along and when he smells her, hears her, he stops chasing Devi and smiles to find her instead.

But where was she? He could smell her… she was so close…

The Thicket began to slowly melt away and consciousness pulled Orphiel back to the reality that made him bitter and angry and sad to face. He glared out at the Lagoon shadows as if the place that now sheltered him was to blame for everything falling apart. It wasn’t, and he knew who was to blame…

A soft, delicate seaside breeze slipped through the trees and brushed over his dark cream winter coat, ruffling his brown hair. Immediately his body tensed and he snorted as though to forcibly shove the smell it brought out of his nose. Orphiel whipped his head up so quickly his overgrown forelock flew back and revealed the only spot of white he had which was often covered. He looked all around him in a panic, pupils jumping in his honey-brown eyes as he tried to see everything all at once.

It was her. She was here.

Without thinking, Orphiel lifted his head and gathered his breath in his lungs, ready to excitedly call out to her like he used to in the Thicket. At the last second, reality ripped the rug out from under him and reminded him this wasn’t a dream, this was reality. Why was she here? Had she come to see him? Did she… not care about their blood? He felt his heart lift with hope and tried quickly to push it back down.

Orphiel moved quickly, excited, until he broke through the trees where he came upon a gathering he didn’t expect to find. He stopped quickly, looking at the two large stallions and then back at Parvati (it struck his heart in two to look at her), just as the one he knew to be the General told her to get lost and he watched Frey take a couple steps back. It was very clear he had stumbled across something he hadn’t expected.

It was also very clear Parvati had not come to the Lagoon for anything to do with Orphiel. He had come here to give her space, told her this was where she would be, and she came here… for another stallion? Did she not care at how it felt for him to see her? To be near her? Was she so heartless? Was he so easy to replace? He used to ignore any jealous thoughts that told him Parvati didn’t care for him because she cared so much for so many other stallions, but now he felt like he’d been a fool this whole time.

He shook his head wordlessly at Parvati before his expression turned cold. With a snap of his tail, ears pinned, he turned and walked back the way he’d come, intending to leave them to whatever drama they had stirring… hatred beginning to fester in his heart for the one he thought had been the one good thing in his life.

(ooc: sorry for the quick enter and leave here, but this was too good to help push orphiel a bit more over the edge for me not to take advantage. if anyone wants to call him back you can!)
