i will become what i deserve

The little colt practically vibrates out of his skin with excitement, and Djuna can't hold back the airy chuckle that falls from her lips as she watches him. She's always had a soft spot for children, and Vadim's antics are quick to warm her heart. She wonders, briefly, who his mother is and how he ended up in the care of his sire, but she knows it's not her place to pry. If Tyr wants to reveal that information to her later, he will. For now she remains quiet and offers only a warm smile to the colt, as well as to Tyr and Roisin.

Her smile falters only slightly at Roisin's words, the tense timbre of her tone and how her body reflects it as she turns to leave. Djuna feels suddenly as if she's disappointed the mare by opting to go with Tyr, but can't bring herself to ask why or how. It must be the bad blood between them, she figures, recalling their terse words from only moments ago. "Thank you, Roisin," Djuna murmurs to the mare's backside as she departs. A small part of her hopes that she will see the mare again, if only to apologize. For what, she's not quite sure yet.

Tyr leads her away from the Commons. Or rather, Vadim leads them and the pair follow along. The landscape changes as they head north and the forest engulfs them. The sun is still high in the sky when the gentle murmur of a river meets her ears, and not long after the roar of rushing water joins the melody of the forest. The Falls must be close, she thinks, anticipation building in her chest.

"So," Djuna says as Vadim leads them onward, just loud enough for the sooty stallion next to her to hear, "can you tell me more about this Lagoon place?" She's undeniably curious now. She doesn't want to believe it's a bad place, but she can't say she views it favorably so far. Not after what Roisin had mentioned. Still it feels wrong to judge a book by the opinion of another, and so she wants to extend Tyr the chance to tell her in his own words about the place he calls home. Maybe, she thinks, it won't be so bad after all.
