Frey’s ears tip to one side, then the other. There were too many emotions bubbling to the surface, but chief among them is relief. Looking upon Talya now, the sooty stallion can hardly believe his eyes. She… she didn’t look upset? She didn’t look mad? There’s hope living within his chest, hope that maybe she’d forgive him. “Talya, I’m so sorry, I… I went looking for you in the Harbor but I–” the words die on his lips when he notices that they aren’t alone.
A child stands at her flank. A boy, a… a young boy. A young boy that doesn’t look all that unlike Frey, though he’s not sure that’s even a thought in his head right now. Too many emotions running high in his system, and the barely-a-man isn’t sure he knows how to process them. Far, far too many emotions. It’s as if the world around him slips and spins, and there were too many things. Processing so many at once was hard, but at least there’s relief here. “I’m not mad… I’m sorry, I was never mad at you, I was just…” Frey trails off again, trying to find the right words. “I was upset at the situation, I was being held prisoner, and I didn’t have any way to express what I was feeling. Everything came out all wrong, I’m sorry.” They come all at once now. His sides ache as he speaks.
It’s only now that he trains his gaze on the child, soft as it is. Frey lowers his massive head and peers at the boy, ears flickering forward. “Hey there,” it’s the only greeting that comes to his lips. In all, he doesn’t know exactly what to say or what to think… a boy. Talya’s son. Talya’s son with… who, exactly? Frey could guess, but would restrain himself for now.
