Yup Manhattan< Lawrence, Wichita and KCK/JOCO were whole other countries compared to much of Kansas. Meanwhile old Republican farmers were electing backwards conservative politicians to public office, giving Kansas the Wizard of Oz reputation we've always had... as kissin cousins to Oklahoma and Nebraska grain producers from small sleepy towns.
As to Kansas, well blame WIBW for working so hard not to be a metropolitian media outlet. There are worse in backwards Southern states, I assure you. IMHO, states are defined by the people they send to the Senate. Florida's the worst bu theres NC, SC, GA, TN, KY, WVA, MS, AL, LA, TX, OK, KS, NE, WY, AZ all in the same backwards group.
