The problem with small businesses like car mechanics is that they need expert mechanics with a lot of experience. Like dealer experience. And better more than one.
Small business doesn't want to train mechanics' ears to diagnose without a list of computer codes like Whirlpool washers have on the internet with specific instructions what to do next!
Yes lots of kids didn't go on to college or trade schools and you probably know that MOST colleges teach general stuff for wannabe managers who can supervise ut don't have the skills to actually do the work.
I had a repairman out yesterday and I was his second call. He fixed it cuz I was very nice to him and didn't make me buy a $200 computer board. He calibrated it and it's worked so far.
That was after making me buy a water pump a month ago that didn't fix it.
He took another hour to fix it and he had 7 more calls today, said he wouldn't get home til 9 tonight, and he was gonna quit because he got an offer for $60k to manage a tech warehouse 60 miles from here. Tough call, spending 2 hours on the road everyday not to have to do manual repairs and driving house to house.
But we know already Mexican women will stay working the fast food window dayshift, but the afternoon and night time turn over rate for high school kids is very high and service is very poor, doens't pay well and they hve to spend half their money on cars and insurance just to get ten bucks an hour, or 15 in the suburbs where none of the uppper middle class kids will even make tacos
We've already learned when Covid laid off lots of company help, the gumment aid them not to look too hard to work.
They should have gotten training worth more per hour but I expect most just played videogames rather than learn how to do $30-50 an hour jobs.
Yup, even white kids will screw off if somebody will pay em to. We already learned LBJ's AFDC (Aid to Families with Dependent Children) paid unmarried women to pop out and tote fatherless babies around... That deals now in its second or third generation of welfare moms.
And of course lots of upscale college kids will become professional students because they can get student loans they may or may not have to pay off.
Careful who we blame this on... one clue tho. The blame doesn't lie with the current sitting president of either party! Replies:
